Tuesday May 18th Arrivals
Arrivals in Moroccan airport.. Options are Marrakech (RAK) (Private transfers are included in costs) or Casablanca (CMN) (Private transfers are available from Casablanca at cost).
You will be met at the airport of your choice and transferred to your riad where you can relax following your journey.
We will stay in a luxury riad in the magical red city of Marrakech luxurious accommodations in private large rooms with en suite bathrooms.
In the evening we will gather on the roof terrace to enjoy a welcoming meal.
Wednesday May 19th Marrakech
We will spend the morning exploring the souks and meeting a selection of dealers there.
The labyrinth of alleys within the Moroccan souks are filled with wonderful shops and the craftsman who create many of the decorative pieces on offer in the souks.
We will visit jewel dealers but also there will be the chance to see and buy local artisana if you wish to do so.
After a late lunch we will we will visit the Berber Museum in the stunning Majorelle gardens. Yves st Laurent restored these stunning gardens with his partner Pierre Berge over many years. They created a true oasis in the hustle and bustle of the red city.
The museum collection is without parallel in Morocco and we will begin to gain an understanding of types and styles and symbolism here.
We will also visit the newly opened YSL fashion and design museum, the influences of his love of Morocco are seen within the clothing designs of this fashion icon.
We will return to the riad in the late afternoon to take a short rest before heading to the ancient Medina to dine.
Thursday May 20th Essaouria
Today we leave the the red city and head West to the coastal town of Essaouria. Our route will take us through stony desert, wine and argan growing regions and finally to the sea.
We will see the legendary goats in trees, and as we arrive in Essaouria, the island of Mogodor will be visible in the distance laying just off the Atlantic coast.We will stay in Essaouria, ( called Tassort in Moroccan dialect , meaning The small fortress) and enjoy the opportunity to visit some wonderful dealers and to enjoy freshly caught fish and sea air.
Once we are settled into our new home we will visit the most exquisite textile gallery and meet Mostapha who is a very respected expert in the textiles of Morocco.
We will take a short evening stroll before eating at Umia. (One of my favourite places to eat!)Chocolate fondant to remember !))
Friday May 21st Essaouria
Our day in Essaouria will be spent with jewel dealers, you will be met with a vast selection of elements and complete pieces. Definitely a chance to hone your haggling skills!
A sunset walk to capture the beauty of the end of the day on the Atlantic coast will round off our time in Essaouria, and a meal in the Medina will bring time to socialise, chat about our finds and to anticipate the next leg of our adventure as we prepare to head south.
We will eat in a seafront restaurant in the evening.
Saturday May 22nd Tarroudant
After breakfast we will take a walk in the fishing port, a superb place to capture the core of the fishing traditions of Essaouria. Then we will leave the sea behind us and begin our journey south. Passing through an Argan growing region and along the coast to Agadir, stopping briefly in Taghazout to buy the most delicious Bananas and experience the bustling Market town. This is the start of the surfing coast of Morocco, and the views of waves breaking along the beaches are majestic.
We will stop to eat in the chic esplanades of Agadir, built to serve the Saudi and German clients who enjoy the area and have invested in property in the area.
Following lunch overlooking the sea we will head inland to Tarroudant. The environment will change from prickly argan trees to lush orange groves, as we follow the Souss Valley towards our next destination.
Our accommodation will be in sweet bungalows set amongst fruit trees and herbs, with large swimming pools, a jacuzzi pool and a spa this is a wonderful place to relax. We will eat a sumptuous 5 course meal poolside and enjoy the wonderful and abundant cuisine at this exceptional riad.
Sunday May 23rd Tarroudant
Once we have enjoyed a leisurely breakfast we will head into the town to explore the jewel shops and sweet traditional Medina of Tarroudant.
This small walled town has a selection of exceptional jewellery and antique outlets.
The quality of pieces here is exceptional. The traders will greet us with southern gentle hospitality.
We will spend the full day in the souks of Tarroudant before we return to our luxurious Garden home and the friendly welcome which always awaits us there.
We will dine together in the garden.
Monday May 24th Siroua
This will primarily be a travelling day, however there is plenty to enjoy along the way to break up the journey. We will travel through the Sirouan Mountains, the regions made wealthy by saffron production, and thus the origin of some of the most exquisite jewellery. We will have access to local high grade saffron which makes wonderful tagines and is also perfect to give as gifts! We will visit local shopkeepers hidden in sleepy desert towns and unearth treasures along the way.
We will spend the night in Agdz, a small market town.
Our Accommodation overlooks an ancient Palmerie at the top of the Draa Valley. We will follow this ancient trade route all the way to the Sahara.
Tuesday May 25th Sahara
Today we will set off on our trip along the Draa Valley. This is the original trade route from Timbuktu crossing the Sahara. The small towns and villages are inhabited by traditionally dressed women, giving an opportunity to see the variations which define origin and culture village by village for the Amazigh and Harratine people of the region.
We will visit ancient Ksours and Kasbahs along the way, and walk inside these magnificent historical dwellings.
We will spend the night in the Sahara, taking camels out to a desert camp where we will sleep in tents and listen to drumming of the Tuareg herders while we gaze at a million stars!.
Wednesday May 26th Ouarzazatte
We will set off into the town of Zagora after breakfast, and search for Saharan treasures, local and trans Saharan traded pieces. After lunch we will again follow the Draa route towards Ouarzazatte. We will be ready to begin to explore this Saharan city filled with the magic of the film industry and a crescent of wonderful jewel treasure houses.
Thursday May 27th Ouarzazatte
Our day will be spent exploring the many small shops of Ouarzazatte . This Saharan town is laden with jewels and often turns up some wonderful rarities. There is a relaxed and sleepy atmosphere, as a backdrop to a plethora of keen traders!
Lunch will be served beside the ancient Kasbah
The afternoon can be filled with more jewel shopping, or a visit to the museum of film and movies which is based in this Moroccan version of Hollywood.
Returning to our riad for dinner and to rest before we cross the Mountains and begin our journey towards Marrakech.
Friday May 28th Marrakech
We will head out early to enjoy the cool of the morning and explore Ait Bennhaddidhu. This stunning Unesco world heritage site has been the backdrop to many epic movies.
After our adventure in this ancient kasbah we will begin the mountain route towards Marrakech.
Crossing the mountains at the dramatic Tiz’n’tchika pass and stopping at a cooperative to see the process of Argan oil manufacture
We will eat at the top of the mountain and savour the cool mountain air.
Our journey will take us back to the city of Marrakech where we will settle into city life in our beautiful Marrakshi riad.
We will eat in the Medina
Saturday May 29th Marrakech
Today has the potential to be a serious shopping day! We will explore the Marrakech Medina and it’s shops …..stopping only for lunch!
Once we are filled with knowledge, and laden with goodies we will return to our riad.
There is an alternative option to visit some famous Marrakech locations today too.
We will eat in our riad, where we can play show and tell sharing the stories of what we found and of course the ones that got away!
Sunday May 30th Departures
Free time and transfers to the airport as required.
Extra night accommodation can be arranged upon request
cookery classes and spa days are available upon request.
The tour price includes transfers from RAK ( Casablanca transfers can be arranged at cost.)
Accommodation, breakfasts, first and last night evening meals, entry to monuments, guides and transport.
A deposit of 50% of the total tour price is required to book your place on this tour.
The balance is due 12 weeks before the date of travel.

The tour payment is not refundable in the case of guest cancellation.
The deposit can be transferred to someone else or used as a deposit against a future trip where availability exists by agreement up to 12 weeks before the date of the start of the tour.
