These are a collection of vintage Tuareg ‘Eguru’ necklaces from Niger. ‘Eguru’ means frog. They are some of the few authentic necklaces the Tuareg would have worn in times gone by with long silver ‘ismamen’ beads and cornerless ‘nagi nagi’ beads strung with coloured glass beads. Most Tuareg silver jewellery since the 1980s has been designed for a Western market.
